The Reformer is probably the most famous piece of Pilates equipment. It is a frame with a moveable carriage that is attached to springs and ropes which are used by the arms or the legs. Using the Reformer helps to improve strength, mobility and balance. Most exercises involve pushing or pulling the carriage against the spring resistance and controlling the return back or holding it in place. You can exercise on this equipment in a number of positions including sitting, lying down, kneeling and standing.
The Reformer is an amazing piece of equipment to use, and the benefits of Pilates will be felt even faster than on the mat. Pilates on the Reformer is perfect for those who are rehabilitating from injury, have a specific training need or simply would like to experience the equipment, and take more of a challenge after learning the foundation principles of Pilates.
